The Turning Leaf whispers to us that every season must shift, and every soul must learn to loosen its grip.\n\nLook upon the trees: their leaves burn with color, then fall. The tree does not mourn the letting go. It trusts that by surrendering what is no longer needed, it will stand ready to receive the snow’s silence, and the spring’s renewal.\n\nSo it is with us. Each of us carries weights—some chosen, some given, some long past their time. The Rite of Letting Go is not a loss but a sacred release. What we set down today returns to the river of creation, where Spirit of the Mountain transforms it into something new.\n\nLetting go is not forgetting. It is not abandoning. It is a gift: the gift of trust, the gift of freedom, the gift of making space. When we release what no longer serves, we do not become empty—we become open.\n\nOn this day, we are invited to breathe deeply and name what we will return to the Mountain. We give back griefs, fears, angers, or burdens, not with bitterness but with gratitude. Gratitude that they taught us, gratitude that they shaped us, gratitude that now they may be carried by something greater than ourselves.\n\nAs the leaves fall, so do our burdens. As the winds shift, so do our paths. And in the clearing, there is peace.\n\nLet us walk forward lightened, so that the joys yet to come may find room in our hearts.","bold":false,"italic":false}],"src":null,"alt":null}]},"companion":{"url":"https://www.spiritofthemountainchurch.org/living-paths/the-gift-of-release","theme":"A wider view","introduction":"Let this teaching become a conversation with your own experience.
